Photography Information About Street Photography

Now I have some photography information that is about street photography. What is street photography? I can tell you that it is not about taken pictures of the streets. Actually street photography has nothing to do with the street. This just a term that stuck with people.

It would be better to describe street photography as moment photography, photos that are taken in the moment without any prep. You could also describe it as social photography, the way that people interact with others. It is about our human society, shared moments, and our environments. It is photos of people in their own habitat.

Different photographers will focus on different things. Some street photographers try to capture funny moments and others will capture people. You can take pictures of the daily lives of people. This can be from the homeless person all the way up to high society. The main thing here is that you can shoot what you want.

You will want to try and capture real everyday life. You can shoot people in public places that they go to every day. This can be the parking lot or your local store and the people that work in the store. Take shots of people using the subway or on the freeway. These type of images make for some great street photography.

As a street photographer you will need to pay attention to detail. You want to pay attention to scenes, moments that you may only recognize subconsciously. Use the camera as an extension of your eye and capture the images that you feel. You want to capture people when they are involved in what they are doing and not paying attention to you.

Street photography is deceptively simple in it's definition yet it is complex in nature. Street photography has provided some of the strongest practical purposes in photography. A lot of documentation work of lifestyles and living conditions of different societies were accomplished though street photography.

So now that you have this photography information about street photography you can grab your camera, hit the streets and capture life as it is.

San Francisco is the Most Photographed City in North America - A Book Review

The Golden Gate Bridge towering over San Francisco Bay as the fog clears, a testament to mankind's will to overcome adversity, and a symbol to all of a great city. Perhaps, there is no other bridge in the world that captures the human spirit and imagination and there is definitely no city more photographed in the last 100 years than San Francisco. Some say that Las Vegas is more photographed, but mostly people buy post cards there and are too busy being tourists and gambling to take pictures.

Now then, what if I told you that you could have a beautiful collection of pictures of San Francisco, really classy professionally done photographs by the top photographers of our time? What if I told you that you can have all this one awesome coffee table book? Well, it's true, and the book I describe, I own myself, the book is:

"San Francisco - Photographs by Morton Beebe" with essays from Herb Caen, Tom Cole, Barnaby Conrad, Herbert Gold, and Kevin Star.

This awesome collection has over 200 high-quality extra large photographs and everyone captures the human spirit of San Francisco. Museums, nightlife, beaches, harbor, tourist attractions, trolley cars, row houses, bridges, events, and people. It's all here, along with lightening, moonlight, sunrises, neon lights and sailboats on the bay. The restaurants, the sights, the hotels, the architecture, it makes San Francisco look like the greatest city in the world.

This is a must have keeper of a photography table book. Now you might ask me what are the cons to this book, I mean I've just described how great it is. Well, one of the cons of this book is that it is very heavy, because it is so packed with high quality pictures. Think on that and get a copy today for your family too.

The Making of a Miniature Firearm By George W Jones - Book Review

In "The Making of a Miniature Firearm," George W. Jones has assembled a series of photographs along with captions illustrating his craft as a miniature model artesian, a talent of extraordinary skill, patience and eyesight! His book, terse in words but revealing a wealth of mental stimulation seeing each of the model photographs, creates a real "Wow" factor. It unfolds like a National Geographic special presentation introducing the reader to the complexity of detail necessary to make these museum quality miniature replicas.

George W. Jones has focused this book on basically two models designed by Samuel Colt in the 19th century. There is a famous quote, "God may have created man, but Sam Colt made them equal!" I'd say to that, "Sam Colt may have created perfection in his gun designs, but it took George Jones to shrink them to the size of a dime!" By this I am referencing the use of a dime in most of the photographs illustrating the scale of the models. (It would have been much easier for George to make a dime the size of a dinner plate than guns as small as he has!)

The miniature firearms also include other models, such as the Winchester-Shuetzen rifle, and most all are housed in miniature cases which include the accessories commonly needed to support the gun, such as a gun-powder vessel, a bullet mold and press, an oil can and other items. Even the hinges of the case are built to scale, with - get this - a tiny key that unlocks a tiny lock on the case. Unbelievable! Mind you these 1/6th and 1/8th scale models are not simply molded, but assembled with the inner workings of hammer springs, barrel assemblies, and all of the parts in fantastic detail.

"The Making of a Miniature Firearm" is a hardcover, coffee-table quality photo book suitable for a gift to any firearm enthusiast, model maker, or frankly just about anyone. George W. Jones lists his other works and some of his industry accolades including a story about James Cameron while working on the movie Titanic, and it has a Forward written by the late Ralph Bradshaw White, in 2007. As the work of Mr. Jones is in private collections and museums throughout the country, a trip to visit each of the sites would be expensive and time consuming, the better alternative is to buy this book and relax in comfort while pondering the exquisite detail as a witness to his art.

Not Having Digital Photography Success?

You download your photos to your computer, the ones you took at a once in a lifetime event, and you're disappointed with the results. They looked okay on your camera view screen but, on the computer screen some seem a little fuzzy, or too light or dark, or they have the dreaded "red-eye". You're just not having the digital photography success you want. As an amateur photographer I've been there, done that.

To many people reading a digital camera user manual is good if they're having trouble sleeping. Too much information of a technical nature to be absorbed. When I started photography as a hobby I bought every book I could trying to find the secret of taking perfect pictures. Looking back I realized all the books said the same thing, just in a different way.

Digital photography is not rocket science. It is an art form. You learn some basic concepts and your digital photography success becomes a product of your creative skills applying those concepts. Unfortunate for some, we need help in sharpening our creativity. That's where fundamentally sound instruction comes in.

You can take a photography class in school, join a camera club, invest in an extensive online course, or search the web for information you can use. The web is a great source, filled with thousands of "how-to" photography e-books. Choose one that is written in plain language, easy to understand and remember. There are offerings on the web authored by people who have learned by trial and error, and without professional instruction became accomplished photographers. They write with a passion about their profession.

The following are quotes from one e-book author.

"Did you know that your digital photos can go from unclear, poorly lit and lacking emotion to sharp, clear, powerful, breathtaking and beautiful in less than 14 days?"

"Who else wants super sharp, dramatic, powerfully vivid, crystal clear, photos with depth and detail, every single time?

Save Thousands With The New Sony Nex VG10 and Make Professional Quality Videos

With the introduction of Sony's new NEX-VG10 Interchangeable Lens HD Camcorder they have taken innovation to the next level with video cameras. The new video camera is the world's first consumer camcorder with interchangeable lenses and the first Handycam to feature an extra large Exmor(TM) APS HD CMOS sensor.

Sony's new NEX VG10 elevates still Image and video quality to professional levels while allowing unprecedented artistic expression that isn't possible with conventional consumer video cameras. With this video camera enthusiasts and photographers now have the ability to capture cinematic quality full HD movies and premium stereo sound.

Sony's Interchangeable Lens Video Camera has been built with the same large sensor used in the "NEX-5" and "NEX-3" digital cameras and compatible with the high grade E-mount series of lenses optimized for video shooting with quiet operation and auto focus. It is also compatible with A-mount interchangeable lenses used by Sony's existing DSLR cameras with an adapter.

Coupled with Sony's powerful processor their sensor achieves high resolution video and 14 megapixel still images. Approximately 19.5 times larger than the standard sensor found in conventional camcorders it enables an extremely shallow depth of field. This allows videographers to achieve cinematic results with stunning background defocus (bokeh). Users can also enjoy DSLR quality photo capture with features like Auto HDR, Handheld Twilight, and Anti Motion Blur, as well as catch fast action sequences with a continuous burst rate of up to seven fps.

The NEX VG10 can capture full 1920x1080 high definition video at 30p (29.97p), recorded in AVCHD 60i (59.94i) format at up to 24Mbps for amazing clarity and detail, ideal for recording on to Blu-ray Disc(TM) media. It also comes with an E-mount 18-200mm lens optimized for video shooting that offers a powerful 11x optical zoom in addition to a silent auto-focus system and Optical Steadyshot(TM) image stabilization with Active Mode for superior versatility.

This camera satisfies the needs of serious videographers. The sound quality matches the amazing imaging performance of the NEX-VG10. Its Quad Capsule Spatial Array Stereo Microphone uses advanced processing algorithms to combine signals from four individual microphone capsules. The result is exceptionally clear stereo audio with high directional response, allowing videographers to capture more sound from their subject and less background noise. The camcorder also features dedicated inputs for optional external microphones and headphones to monitor sound levels.

This video camera accepts both Sony's Memory Stick and SD card. Users can record over three and a half hours of high definition footage when using the 32GB memory card. Not only is the NEX VG10 a beautiful camera to look at but it also offers gorgeous video to watch. It is definitively the best "Hybrid Camcorder" ever made and the best compact Handycam made by Sony so far.

Photography Information - Selling Stock Photography

The photography information that I have for you today is about selling stock photography. If you are going to sell your photography on the internet as stock photography you will want to know a little about negotiating licensing fees for the images that you want to sell.

Now at first it may seem a bit intimidating but it does not have to be. All you need is a few steps to simplifying the process. You will be able to easily determine a fair and justified fee and not run the risk of losing a sale.

There are basically two ways to sell your photography, first way would be that you set the price that you want for your work and the other way is when the client tells you what amount of money they are willing to pay.

Once the client sets a price it will be up to you to decide if you are willing to accept their price or if there is room for an attempt to negotiate a price that is more to your favor before you agree or disagree. Needless to say that it is very rare that the client offers to pay to much.

So what do you ask for? How can you determine a usage fee? In today's market the prices are all over the place. A lot depends on what the image is and your ability to sell your photography. It is said that the average for a stock photograph is less than $200 and a lot closer to $100, again this all depends on what the photo is about and who you sell it to.

If you have a photography niche specialty the value of your work will usually much higher than if you just take pictures of all types. Having a photography niche also will make it easy for people to find you. If the client knows what they have in mind, they will often look for the niche that the photos fall under. If you are trying to determine a niche that would be to your liking you can surf other photography websites and see what is selling and where it is selling.

You will want to research further photography information and remember that just as important as the image that you sell is where you sell it. Some stock photography websites will pay you a percentage and others will pay you a flat rate.

Photography Book Review - Biplane Picture Book

There are few of us alive today that were around in the great days of early aviation, when all the airplanes were biplanes, so it's hard for us to understand just what it was like. But, if you have curiosity there, and if you love airplanes, then let me recommend a very nice book for you to own:

"The Age of the Biplane" by Chaz Bowyer; Crescent Books Publishers; Bison Books; New York, NY; 1983. ISBN: 0-517-39939-3.

This wonderful photography book has over 250 high quality, many black and white and authentic historical pictures, with some full color pictures of replica aircraft and restored WW I Aircraft of the day. Each picture has a story beside it next to the illustrations giving the reader or viewer a glimpse into the past. Some say this was indeed the dawn of modern aviation and military aircraft, perhaps so, and when you get done looking at all these awesome pictures, you too will be thinking the same thing.

You will see pictures of the Sopwith Camels, Spads, Fokkers, Nieuports, and peaceful aircraft later after the war used for carrying mail and passengers, then the book takes you into the golden age of aviation. Literally a trip through time from the Wright Brothers forward into the Golden Age of aviation. What a cool journey it is thanks to author Chaz Bowyer who was an RAF pilot in 1958 and has been writing on aircraft topics for magazines, and books his whole life.

Personally, I cannot think of a better book for a family of aviators to have in their home, or for an aircraft business to have in their waiting room. It's that good, and perhaps you should pick up a copy too? Think on this.
